Client overview: Parkeray Ltd
Parkeray specialise in providing quality fit-out and refurbishment services within London and Southern England. Since 1998 the company has grown into an award winning, well respected specialist in its field. Operating from a Head Office in the City and Satellite Offices in Surrey and across Southern England, the company now employs well over one hundred staff and has a multi million pound turnover.
Due to the continued success and expansion of the company a new head office had been sourced in London Bridge to compliment the existing office in Sutton, Surrey. Parkeray would be locating over 50 staff at London Bridge, 30 staff at Sutton and over 30 staff on remote sites in and around the South of England. These users should be able to connect and share data in real-time via high speed internet links back to head office and between offices via VPN.
Priority must be given to Network/data security and failover to ensure a resilient, stable and flexible working platform for everyone.
Sensus3 must liaise with all third parties including BT to source and plan the installation of Fibre channel leased lines and SDSL failover lines, structured network cabling and communication equipment. Sensus3 must work with Parkeray to plan and undertake the the relocation of existing IT equipment and services including the migration of roles from existing servers to new servers at London Bridge.
The majority of relocation and installation work must be completed over a weekend to ensure workers would have key applications and services available when returning to work on Monday morning.
Multiple remote workers must also be able to connect to the London Bridge network from Monday morning to access client files and emails.
We created a graphical illustration and plan to work with the Parkeray team over a period of 8 weeks. The plan acted as a starting block for us all to work from and created opportunities for new ideas and approaches to ensure both budget and timelines were met.
Liaising with BT and other third parties, we facilitated high speed fibre leased lines and separate SDSL failover channels at both London Bridge and Sutton. Using high end HP branded switches, firewalls and routers we undertook the pre-installation testing of the lines, data communication using a test environment and failover using backup lines and equipment, with an excellent level of success.
Working to an agreed plan our project team of engineers increased the number of servers to 12 using IBM X-Series Rack mount machines. These would provide a variety of core services through integration with other key systems including:
- Real-time file sharing, locking and synchronization between remote servers
- Multi site, multi server Microsoft Exchange environment
- Gateway and Exchange SPAM filtering solution
- Active\Active site to site VPN (Virtual Private Network) with full failover
- Full company e-mail failover
- Multiple satellite VPN’s (x10)
- Multi domain controller and global catalogue environment
- Full policy controlled Active Directory environment
- Blackberry Enterprise Server
- Microsoft Terminal Services remote access solution
- Outlook/Exchange RPC email over HTTPS communication
- Full DMZ (Demilitarized Zone) for enhanced network security
Due to the careful planning, pre-installation testing, quality branded products used and overall team work, both budget and timeline were met and the client’s expectations exceeded. We continue to provide a total care support solution to underpin the entire IT infrastructure
